TWO IMPORTANT COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS

The City of Santa Monica invites you to TWO COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS focusing on the
1.  COLORADO ESPLANADE, Saturday January 21st
and the
2.  DOWNTOWN SPECIFIC PLAN, Thursday January 26th

 

1.   COLORADO ESPLANADE

Please join us SATURDAY, JANUARY 21 at 10:00AM at THE KEN EDWARDS CENTER, 1527 4thStreet to view the new complete street concept created by the highly-acclaimed landscape architecture team from Peter Walker Partners, and to get your input on important design components.  Please join usto share your thoughts on:

§  NEW STREET CONFIGURATION: See the proposed new multi-modal street layout including widened sidewalks, new bicycle lanes, and  reconfigured lanes and intersections to achieve optimal flow for all users.

§  CONCEPT DESIGN: Give us your thoughts on the proposed lighting, paving, art and landscaping concepts and other amenities that will make the Esplanade an exciting and memorable Santa Monica experience.

The re-imagined Colorado Esplanade will serve the high volume of visitors to Santa Monica’s beaches, Downtown and Civic Center. It will connect these districts, and guide visitors and residents to destinations along a comfortable landscaped pathway.  Come and be part of the planning of this important and exciting City project.

Big Blue Bus Lines 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9 and 10 serve the workshop location, and bicycle parking will be available. Automobile parking is available at the Ken Edwards Center or across the street at Santa Monica Place.

 

2.   DOWNTOWN SPECIFIC PLAN

Please join us THURSDAY, JANUARY 26 at 7:00PM – 9:30PM at the CIVIC AUDITORIUM, EAST WING, 1855 MAIN STREET to discuss preliminary ideas for the Downtown Specific Plan and results from the visioning process for the City-owned property at Arizona Avenue between 4th & 5th Streets.  Please join us to share your thoughts on:

§  DOWNTOWN SPECIFIC PLAN: Introduction of the consultant team and the emerging strategy for realizing the LUCE vision for the Downtown District.

§  OPPORTUNITY SITE: Review preliminary concepts for the reuse of the City-owned property and learn about economic feasibility and mix of uses.

Your input will help to create the future of the Downtown Specific Plan.
