Ride is for high intermediate to advanced riders comfortable riding city streets, please read route description below. All riders must wear helmets and bring working headlights and taillights for the return trip to Santa Monica. Riders are responsible for bringing their own flat fix equipment. Ride coordinator does NOT bring extra tubes or tools.
Fixed gear bikes must have a front brake, single-speed bikes must have front and rear brakes or a coaster brake. Aero bars are allowed on bikes but CANNOT be used on the ride.
Ride Route & Description:
This ride is a no-drop, for intermediate and advanced riders comfortable riding city streets at 15mph. Although fairly flat, the ride is 35 miles long each way so riders must be prepared to ride the distance at pace. Riders falling off the back may be asked to continue on public transportation if they are holding up the ride too much.
Bring a lock for scheduled stops and front and rear lights just in case we are late getting back.
In addition to the official El Monte Bicicultura route, we will check out the new Cycle Track in Temple City and if time and energy permit, visit nearby Progress Brewing and stop for Chinese or Vietnamese food on the return ride.

It’s not just a ride, it’s a movement for the safety of all on the streets of Los Angeles.
Finish The Ride started after bicyclist Damian Kevitt was dragged nearly a quarter mile under a car. It was a gross hit and run crime which is a common occurrence in Southern California. Having barely survived, he vowed to get back on a bicycle and FINISH THE RIDE — not just for himself but to help make the streets of Southern California safe for ALL.
Now the event is not just about Damian’s triumph over tragedy but about finishing for the nearly 6,000 other people in LA County who have been severly injured in hit and run crimes. By just participating, you are helping Finish The Ride raise awareness and handle the epidemic of hit and run crimes, thereby making the streets safer for you, me and everyone else.
Use registration code SMSPOKE at checkout to receive a 10% discount of which a portion is donated to Santa Monica Spoke.
