Updates & Input: Bike Month, EXPO, Bike Action Plan Implementation, Samohi SRTS / MANGo, Colorado Esplanade, Mobility Initiative, Santa Monica’s 1st Open Street Event!

•   Francie Stefan, City of Santa Monica Mobility and Transportation Manager will share updates on Santa Monica’s Open Street Event, Pedestrian Action Plan, the City’s Mobility Initiative and the completion of the new Colorado Esplanade and opening of EXPO light Rail and Bike Path.
•   Michelle Glickert, City of Santa Monica’s Bike Coordinator will give us Bike Action Plan updates and request your ideas and input on next steps. Projects: Green Lanes and Bike Technology Demonstrations, MANGo. Brief updates on programs like SRTS and bike ed classes and events.
•   Vision Zero
•   City of Santa Monica Bike Share – stat updates and Breeze Outreach Team opportunities,
Ride Breeze Bikes that we will have there for you to test ride.

Expo Update: Start of Pre-Revenue Service

Expo Line Extension to Santa Monica Notice – Start of Pre-Revenue Service – Monday, March 21, 2016

Starting Monday, March 21, 2016, Metro will be conducting Pre-Revenue Service on the Expo Line Extension to Santa Monica. (No passengers will be on the trains from Culver City to Santa Monica.) Train frequency will be every 12-20 minutes. These activities are necessary as they lead up to full train service starting May 20th 2016.

Daily, 4AM to 2AM; Fridays and Saturdays until 3AM.

It is necessary to obey ALL traffic signs and signals at ALL times.

Safety Tips

  • Please obey all warning signs and traffic signals when crossing the tracks.
  • Always look both ways before crossing any street.
  •  Never walk on railroad tracks.
  •  Watch for trains from both directions.
  • Use the crosswalks. Do not jaywalk across the tracks.

Train Testing from now until Expo Line is Open

STARTING SUNDAY, JANUARY 17, 2016 UNTIL THE EXPO LINE IS OPEN FOR PASSENGER SERVICE

Metro will be conducting Train Testing and Operator Familiarization of the Expo Line to Santa Monica. Please be aware that trains will be operating on the tracks. These activities are necessary as we lead up to full train service (Spring 2016.)

HOURS OF TRAIN ACTIVITIES WILL VARY

Along Expo Line tracks from National/Palms Station to the Downtown Santa Monica Station (4th St./Colorado)

It is necessary to obey ALL traffic signs and signals at ALL times.

Safety Tips

  • Please obey all warning signs and traffic signals when crossing the tracks.
  • Always look both ways before crossing any street.
  •  Never walk on railroad tracks.
  •  Watch for trains from both directions.
  • Use the crosswalks. Do not jaywalk across the tracks.

Expo Line trains have begun testing. Bulletins will be issued to keep you informed of the dates, times and frequency of movement through the community.

Safety Tips

  • Always look both ways before crossing any street.
  •  Never walk on railroad tracks.
  •  Watch for trains from both directions.
  • Use the crosswalks. Do not jaywalk across the tracks.

In conjunction with the Cities of Los Angeles and Santa Monica and the Expo Construction Authority, Metro will be conducting a headway (frequency of train service) test to verify that the train control system can meet headways established by Metro. This test is necessary as we lead up to full train service (Spring 2016).

SUNDAY – SATURDAY, JANUARY 10 – 16, 2016, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
