Don’t miss the early festivities stating at 9:00am! The first Kidical Mass Ride for 2016 is Saturday, February 13th. A fun bike ride event for the whole family! Education with Fun & Prizes!

Join Santa Monica Spoke and the City of Santa Monica for the next Kidical Mass Bike Ride. 
We’ll enjoy a family friendly ride through the Sunset Park neighborhood.

CHECK IN! Pre-ride snacks, Coffee and beverages for the kids (Please be sustainable and bring your own cups), Helmet Decorating, Prizes, Free Bike Safety Checks provided by Giant Bicycles.
Arrive early and don’t miss the FUN!

11:00am (or upon return from ride)
Return to Clover Park around 11-11:15am for FUN and post-ride snacks provided by KIND. Valentine Cookie Decorating is planned!

* Children must be accompanied and are the responsibility of their parents. Bikes should be in good working condition. Free Safety Checks on site for minor adjustments/repairs. Please use good judgement – ride is on city streets – smaller children should be in a child seat, in a trailer or Tag-a-long……

Countri Bike Meets Breeze: Video

We had such a blast with Countri Bike’s Jeffrey Tanenhaus yesterday!

We met at 26th & Broadway, Hulu headquarters at the Colorado Center Park to ride with Jeffrey on the last leg of his cross country journey through Santa Monica to the finish line and the end of Route 66 at the top of the Santa Monica Pier. The energetic happy group rode on Broadway with SO MANY Breeze Bikes — and picking up more along the way!

We had a super fun finish line ribbon cutting with press, photographers and a great crowd enjoying the festivities. Jeffrey is always saying he’s met SO MANY wonderful people on his journey across the US — but nothing like this fun event that brought such a crowd — including folks from near and far that came out to help us celebrate the finish line of Jeffrey’s wonderful tour.

We will have the photo gallery up soon, Including riding through the finish line!
For now enjoy the video of smiles, bikes, NYC & SM Bike Share all together having a great ride.

Train Testing from now until Expo Line is Open

Expo Train Testing English

STARTING SUNDAY, JANUARY 17, 2016 UNTIL THE EXPO LINE IS OPEN FOR PASSENGER SERVICE

Metro will be conducting Train Testing and Operator Familiarization of the Expo Line to Santa Monica. Please be aware that trains will be operating on the tracks. These activities are necessary as we lead up to full train service (Spring 2016.)

HOURS OF TRAIN ACTIVITIES WILL VARY

Along Expo Line tracks from National/Palms Station to the Downtown Santa Monica Station (4th St./Colorado)

It is necessary to obey ALL traffic signs and signals at ALL times.

Safety Tips

  • Please obey all warning signs and traffic signals when crossing the tracks.
  • Always look both ways before crossing any street.
  •  Never walk on railroad tracks.
  •  Watch for trains from both directions.
  • Use the crosswalks. Do not jaywalk across the tracks.

NYC Bike Share meets Breeze in Santa Monica

Bike commuter turned bike tourist Jeffrey Tanenhaus has ridden a NYC bike share bike across the US and will end his cross country tour in Santa Monica, this Saturday January 23rd, 3:00pm at the Santa Monica Pier.

We are planning to welcome Jeffrey to the West Coast with a ride along the last leg of his journey with City of Santa Monica’s own Breeze Bike Share, presented by Hulu. Together we will ride with Jeffrey from Colorado Center Park to the Santa Monica Pier. There we will celebrate the end his journey with a finish line ribbon cutting (3:00pm) at the iconic end of Route 66 atop of the Santa Monica Pier followed by a Handlebar Happy Hour at Ristorante al Mare.

Though none would argue a public bike share bike is inteneded or would be most people’s choice for a long-distance bike ride, Jeffrey decided to ride the bike that had given him so much joy commuting from his home to work and for his daily errands in New York City – promoting the versatility and benefits of healthy, active transportation and contributing to a less congested healthier city.

We will meet at Colorado Center Park, 26th & Broadway at 2:30 and ride together on the last leg of Jeffrey Tanenhaus Countri Bike tour to the end of Route 66 at the top of the Santa Monica Pier. There we will celebrate with a Checker Board / Finish Line Ribbon Cutting!
