What a Way to Go – Bike, Bus Expo

Climate Action Santa Monica (CASM) will host its fifth public forum, “What a Way to Go – Bike, Bus Expo,”  at the Church in Ocean Park.

Focusing on Santa Monica’s transportation revolution, the forum will feature a keynote address by Rick Cole, Santa Monica’s new City Manager on “Grand Overview of How Expo Revolutionizes How We Move in the City.”

Emceed by Belinda Waymouth, Environmental Journalist and Huffington Post writer with a Master in Environmental Studies from UCLA. Additional will presentations include William Selby, Santa Monica College Geography and Earth Sciences Professor on “El Nino and Hot Climate News,” Cynthia Rose, Director of Santa Monica Spoke on “Biking in Santa Monica and Santa Monica’s New Breeze Bike Share System,” Aimee Wyatt of Santa Monica’s Big Blue Bus system on “New BBB Routes and Expo Integration,” and Tom Jasmin and Stacy Yamato, Metro Rail Start up Manager and Metro Community Safety Director, on “Expo’s Safe and Far-Reaching System.”

Mayor McKeown & Council Member Pam O’Connor, will share important announcements about the upcoming Paris COP21 Climate Summit which they will be attending. O’Connor will be representing the United States as a member of our Delegation.

Denny Zane Executive Director of Move LA will be joining the program to discuss important future transit funding sources.

The program will include an interactive Transportation Festival between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm featuring a parked Big Blue Bus, the new Breeze Bike Share bikes and live music.

Family Bike Festival

Santa Monica Family Bike Festival at McKinley School*

When I say festival – I mean FESTIVAL. This will be a day full of activities for the whole family!
Join us at this free event that will feature, FREE Bike Rodeo / skills course, demos, wood bike banked track, FREE giant slide, FREE raffles, FREE rock climbing wall, DJ entertainment, games, craft booths, local merchants. Breeze bike share, bike shops with test rides and accessories, route planning and information, FOOD AND FUN!

We are especially excited about the great commitment and enthusiasm building at McKinley for sustainable, active transportation for walking ad biking and to the rockin’ McKinley Sustainability & Beautification Committee we are supporting for this event! They have connected to totally awesome local partners of all types to make this event super fun!

—–4pm End / Final raffle

The next Kidical Mass Ride for 2015 has gone Massive, KIDICAL MASS(IVE)! Our local, fun bike ride experience for families with kids of all ages will be part of a Global Family Bike Ride Event. There are rides registered from all around the world!
Education with Fun & Prizes! Dress for the theme and you could win a prize!

* Children must be accompanied and are the responsibility of their parents. Bikes should be in good working condition. Free Safety Checks on site for minor adjustments/repairs. Please use good judgement – ride is on city streets – smaller children should be in a child seat, in a trailer or Tag-a-long……
