Santa Monica State of the City

Flyer Link
Come to Reed Park and the newly revived Miles Memorial Playhouse this Thursday, July 17, from 4–7 p.m. for the State of the City, a free, family-friendly community event.

This year’s event kicks off the city’s 150th anniversary celebration and includes an opening reception with Mayor Lana Negrete and City Manager Oliver Chi, followed by live performances, poetry, art, interactive booths, giveaways and trivia!

Bring a picnic (or check out one of the two food vendors onsite!) and a beach chair. And 21+ can enjoy a Beer Garden from Santa Monica Brew Works.

We’ll bring the entertainment, including local favorite Downbeat 720, immersive music by String Theory, and performers from Los Angeles Performance Practice.

Getting there:
Take Big Blue Bus! Routes 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9, 18, and Rapids 3, 7, 10 all have stops within a 10-minute walk of the park. And it’s FREE if you mention that you’re heading to the State of the City!

Ride your bike and take advantage of our free bike valet from Santa Monica Spoke.
We’ll be on California just west of Lincoln Blvd.
Come by and say HI!

Free event car parking is available at St. Monica Catholic Church across the street, 725 California Ave., and at the Main Library just a short walk away from Reed Park.

Join us as we come together to kick off a summer of celebrating resilience and growth. Find more information at SMStateoftheCity.eventbrite.com.

Dear Mayor Negrete and City Councilmembers:

Please move forward, for the benefit of all, the creation of an inspirational LC-compliant Great Park with financing that prioritizes existing on-site revenue sources with no sale or other privatization of the land. As our park-poor city densifies, the more connections to nature we must also create and maintain to support a vibrant and healthy community. it is paramount that we plan for the creation of sufficient open, recreational, and regenerative spaces that can restore habitat and meet the needs of both current and future generations.

Sincerely,

Amplify The Message! Please share with a friend and ask them to write to Council as well. Thank you for taking action — and we look forward to seeing you at the rally and in Council Chambers!

Sincerely,
The Great Park Coalition Leadership Team
