Enjoy a five-mile social bike ride with Metro Bike Share, Santa Monica Spoke, and the City of Santa Monica!

Come out and celebrate exciting new bike infrastructure improvements in Santa Monica! You might be thinking: “What do you mean by MANGo? What milestone?” – this ride is the perfect way to learn more about the Michigan Avenue Neighborhood Greenway (MANGo).

Metro Bike Share, Santa Monica Spoke, and the City of Santa Monica invite you to a community ride to celebrate Bike Month and the completion of phase 4 of the MANGo project. The project extends MANGo to the east and creates a new connection between the two portions of Michigan Avenue which were bisected by the construction of the Santa Monica Freeway. Featuring new multi-use pathways and a two-way protected bikeway across the 20th Street bridge, this facility links the Pico Neighborhood to destinations such as Crossroads School, Santa Monica High School, E Line stations, and the Bergamot Station Arts Center.

Conditions: This route is great for novice riders, those who haven’t ridden in a while, and for those looking to socialize. You must be 16+ to ride a Metro Bike. This ride is welcoming of children on personal bikes. Children must either be secured in an approved child carrier or riding their own bicycle and supervised by an adult at all times.

Feeling hungry or thirsty? There are also plenty of locally-owned businesses on the route to explore before or after the ride!

This ride is “no-drop,” meaning we will maintain a comfortable and inclusive pace for all participants.

  • At 10:00 am, we will promptly begin introductions and safety check, along with ensuring everyone has a helmet and water bottle at no-cost.
  • From 10:15 am – 11:00 am, we will ride along the above route and back with quick photo and water stops.
  • We will return no later than 12:00 pm to 17th/SMC Station.

Start/endpoint: 17th/SMC Station (accessible via E Line)
