BIKE SMART, Street Cycling Class B

BIKE SMART: STREET CYCLING SKILLS (on bike) Session B

This class is conducted entirely outdoors, on bicycles. Participants will need to bring a bike in good working condition along with a helmet. Fixed gear bikes are not recommended and fixed gear bikes without a handbrake will not be permitted. In this class, participants will learn bicycling handling skills, including emergency maneuvers. Using the principles taught in Session A, participants will ride on public roads with instructors who will help participants put what they’ve learned into practice, on the street. This class is 4 hours long. You must take “Street Cycling Skills” Session A before you can take “Street Cycling Skills” Session B. Students will be enrolled on a first-come first-served basis. Class is limited to 12 students.

For the summer of 2015, the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition is offering a series of FREE Bicycle Skills Classes through out Los Angeles County. Santa Monica Spoke is hosting the full series of classes in Santa Monica.. Funding for this program is provided by Metro through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safetyand the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

All classes are taught by trained League Cycling Instructors (LCIs). The classes are open for adults and youth who are at least 14 years of age. Minors must be accompanied by their parent or an adult guardian.
